Labor & HR

The workforce side of the operation, built for barns and for the Temporary Foreign Worker programs many producers run. Geofenced timeclock, shift scheduling, piece-rate export, and document compliance with required-document tracking and approval workflows — so audits stop being fire drills.

What it does

Time & scheduling

  • Geofenced mobile clock-in / clock-out tied to the barn or site
  • Shift scheduling with per-worker assignment and task checklists
  • Out-of-geofence punches flagged for review
  • Piece-rate earnings tied to production events, with CSV export

TFW & document compliance

  • Per-stream required-document rules (SAWP, Ag Stream, low/high-wage)
  • Permit and document expiry tracking with lead-time alerts
  • Worker self-upload with HR approve / reject and reason-coded feedback
  • Training assignments and certifications with completion tracking

Safety & records

  • Incident reporting and workplace-safety logs from the barn
  • Worker profiles with role, site assignment, and history

Document packages & e-signature

  • Reusable document templates with merge fields, sent as packages for e-signature
  • Recurring package assignments that re-send on a schedule
  • Signed PDFs stored against the worker, with a completion trail

Training, calendar & self-service

  • Built-in training — lesson modules and quizzes that auto-issue a certification on a pass
  • Team calendar with recurring reminders and an iCal subscription
  • A worker self-service portal with phone-number sign-in for staff without email

How it works

  1. 1

    Onboard the worker

Create the profile, set the stream, and the required-document checklist generates itself.

  2. 2

    Collect documents

The worker uploads permits and IDs from their phone; HR approves or rejects with a reason.

  3. 3

    Schedule & clock

Assign shifts; staff clock in/out inside the geofence, with out-of-fence punches flagged.

  4. 4

    Export & stay ready

Export piece-rate earnings; expiring permits alert before they lapse, so audits are routine.

How it connects

Piece-rate earnings are computed from Grow-Finish and Movement production events, geofences reuse your Movement & Compliance sites, and every expiring permit, out-of-geofence punch, or rejected document becomes an alert in the Operations Hub routed to HR or the farm manager.

Labor & HR was built around the reality that a lot of pork producers run TFW programs across multiple sites. Required documents, expiry dates, and approval workflows are first-class — not a folder of scanned PDFs — so the day an auditor calls, the compliance picture is already on screen.

Frequently asked

What happens if someone clocks in from the wrong place?
The clock-in checks the phone's location against the site geofence. An out-of-fence punch isn't blocked — it's recorded with its distance from the site and flagged for review, so honest mistakes go through but off-site punches are visible.
Can we customize which documents each worker stream requires?
Yes. Required-document rules are per-organization and per-stream, so SAWP, Ag Stream, and low/high-wage workers each get the correct checklist.
Does it handle the worker approval workflow, not just storage?
Yes. Workers self-upload, HR approves or rejects with a reason, and the worker is notified — the document only counts toward compliance once approved.
Can it export pay data?
SwineOps exports piece-rate earnings as CSV — worker, rule, units, rate, and total — for handoff to your payroll process.
Can we send documents out for signature, not just collect uploads?
Yes. Build reusable templates with merge fields, send them as a package for e-signature, and have them re-sent on a schedule; the signed PDFs are stored against the worker with a completion trail.
Do workers need an email address to use it?
No. The worker self-service portal supports phone-number sign-in, so barn staff without a work email can still upload documents, complete training, and clock in.
